It Is Raining.
Reduit is different from Port Louis. It is different as any city in any country of the world is different from a capital city. However, when it is raining, all cities become equal in its silence and mystery.
Port Louis is a major city of Mauritius. Its name is after a king Louis XV. Mauritius was colonized several times by Dutch, French and British. Locals claim Arabs were the first to discover the island and Dutch to kill all the Dodo birds. As a consequence of the colonization’s, there are French and British schools on this tiny island of a population of 1.3 millions.
Sometimes it feels like time stops here. Fashion, buses, technology here is old-fashioned (excluding very rich areas of an Island near Eureka and others). A gap between rich and poor is very high here, in Mauritius, the wealthiest country in Africa.
And here, in St. Croix is the Fraternity Nordsut where I volunteer and work with kids. My dream is for them to see the snow. Any kid deserves love, care and education. Kids should know how to read and right. And they will.
